More snow

We just want to be sure our California children remember what Michigan can be like in March. Good morning Stephanie and Kevin...this is what we woke up to today :) 2 inches of snow!

Tracie Rock Climbing in Kentucky

Tracie enjoys going rock climbing in Kentucky with Nate....looks a little scary!

Tracie will be a Worship Apprentice at Calvin

Tracie applied to be a "WA" at Calvin for next year. It is a paid position and will be great experience for her towards her Music in Worship degree. She just found out she was accepted for the position!

What is a worship apprentice? A worship apprentice is a student who has gifts for and an interest in any combination of:
engaging in prayerful planning and preparation for worship
playing or singing in a worship musical group
exploring liturgical leadership
making use of drama in worship
invigorating worship through the visual arts or dance
supporting worship through technology
showing hospitality
working with teams and administering worship related projects
Worship Apprentices will have opportunities to plan, lead, and take part in Chapel, LOFT and more. Ten apprentices will work as a team, supporting and encouraging each other. Each apprentice will be assigned a particular ministry area and a particular mentor with whom to work and develop his/her gifts in worship.

Trajectory

The idea here is to be the most accurate at hitting targets (2 targets...one farther away than the other). You get 4 tries. Derek and his partner hit the target twice and the other 2 times were close so they ended up in 4th place here also out of 21 school teams.

Robocross

This is Robocross. The idea is to get as many objects as possible in section D. Derek came in 4th place out of 21 schools. But in the end the robotec vehicle got stuck :)

Science Olympiad

Saturday, March 15 Derek competed for his school with 14 other kids in Science Olympiad. He competed in Mystery Architech, Trajectory and Robocross. He placed 4th in both Trajectory and Robocross (out of 21). It was a long day for him...he had to get up at 5:15 am to be at school by 6:15 am. But is was great to be at the awards ceremony at the end of the day and have Derek's events announced as winners!

It's March

Hopefully spring will be here soon but another 5 inches of snow fell last night. I've been trying to add more videos and pictures of our annual ski trip this past January but they are not being accepted. I wonder if there is a limit as to how much can be on this site. If that is so...I am in trouble because my main purpose is to share videos and photos (especially for Stephanie and Kevin). I'll keep trying.
